Urban sustainability professional with leadership and global program management experience in materials management, climate change, municipal energy management, urban services and environmental protection. During his seven years with the US Environmental Protection Agency, Chris directed multi-million dollar climate and waste management activities supporting initiatives in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States. Serving as Co-Chair of the Municipal Solid Waste Initiative to Climate and Clean Air Coalition's (CCAC) global efforts. Work that focused on mitigation of methane from municipal waste management operations, working directly with municipalities at the project level, as well as with regional and national environmental policy makers. At the Clinton Climate Initiative, Clinton Foundation, and the Alliance to Save Energy, Chris managed climate and energy initiatives focused on helping cities more efficiently manage energy use within municipal water supply and treatment operations and conceptualization of landfill gas capture and utilization.
Currently based in Brussels, Mr. Godlove established THINKCities Consulting in 2016, and today assists cities to develop municipal climate and sustainability strategies concentrating mainly on municipal waste management, methane mitigation, energy efficiency and sustainability communications. Chris has a M.A. in Latin American Studies with a concentration in international development from The American University, Washington, DC, and a B.A. in Spanish Literature from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. He is certified in compost operations by the US Composting Council (USCC) and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) as recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
Chris speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese in addition to English and is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), the Inter-American Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (AIDIS) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA).
